I LOVE milkshakes but unfortunately, ice cream makes me pack on the pounds...it's a gluttony issue! I started making these smoothies a long time ago to satisfy my "ice cream tooth" and I haven't looked back...okay, I still eat ice cream, but not as much!
You will need 1 banana, unsweetened cocoa powder (not hot chocolate mix but baking cocoa), Greek yogurt (I use plain, unsweetened but vanilla is great too), honey and ice chunks.
In a blender, throw in the banana...freeze it first if you want a really thick smoothie (peel the banana before freezing as it's a huge pain in the arse if you don't!)
Next, add 1 cup of Greek yogurt...
I eyeball the honey but it's about a quarter of a cup...
...1 Tbsp, of unsweetened cocoa powder...
..next, toss in a couple handfuls of ice chunks and blend until smooth...if you aren't using frozen banana chunks and you want your smoothie a little thicker, add in a few more pieces of ice.
...and there you have it...a cool, chocolatey frozen treat that tastes great and won't bust your buttons!
Chocolate, Banana Smoothies
1 banana (peeled and frozen if you like a thicker smoothie)
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/4 cup liquid honey
1 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
a couple handfuls of ice chunks
1. Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth...serve in tall glasses and garnish with banana chunks for that "Malt Shop" experience!
