It has been so long since I have been able to sit down at my computer and go through my arsenal of photographs or simply jot down some thoughts, but time has not been abundant lately nor have I felt like my normal bouncy, if not sarcastic self, to do such things of late.

I realize this message is far overdue and some may have been wondering whether or not I toppled from the face of the earth but due to an illness in the f...

It's that time of year again, when we tend to have bowls of fruit on our counter tops ready to grab for a refreshing snack...sweet, juicy peaches, plums and apples picked at their peak of freshness, bananas for quick fruit smoothies and tomatoes sun ripened to perfection on the vine. The only trouble is, we usually have some uninvited visitors ready to dine and gorge their little annoying selves on our produce!...

This summer has just been flying by...I can't believe that the kids go back to school soon and I'm pretty sure that Isabel is having a tough time wrapping her head around that one too! So far we have been laying pretty low this summer and getting things done at home, all while appreciating the little things...kind of like these chickens! It doesn't take much to make these girls happy...give 'em a watermelon and they are in He...

As many of you know, I have always been partial to the colder months...if you have visited my blog more than once, you have probably heard me whining about the heat!! But...and I know you shouldn't start a sentence with a conjuction, BUT I will have to say, there really is nothing more beautiful than summer mornings, evenings and okay, summer afternoons...as long as it's not hot...and there aren't swarms of mos...

Our boy "Chief" is 6 months old now and the cutest, smartest l'il Border Collie that I know...I don't know many Border Collies personally, but if I did, Chief would definitely be top dog!

You may remember this little cupcake from my post "Our New Addition" ...he was just 8 weeks old when he filled our home and our hearts with his smoky little eyes, chubby belly and puppy breath!

He seemed to fit right in from the v...

Not that many years ago, canning and preserving was a way of life for most people and a necessity for a lot of families to get through the winter....for me, it just wouldn't be fall if my counter tops weren't loaded with bowls of prepared fruits and vegetables and there must be steaming pots of vinegar brine and the smell of spices wafting from my kitchen windows!

A lot more people today are taking notice of wha...

Happy 150th. Birthday Canada!! The other day at work, my friend Lesley and I were talking about the upcoming long weekend, which happens to be today...Canada Day!. There is never usually a lull in our conversations but this time, it was especially rapid fire as we breathlessly rhymed off dozens of reasons why we, as Canadians should be grateful and proud to be part of such a

magnificent country!

 Here in Canada we h...

Our second season of maple syrup production has once again come to a close and left our freezer with an abundance of bottles filled with liquid gold! Some of you might remember my post from last year called "Our very own Maple Syrup...I hope!" when I optimistically talked about making our very first batch!

My instagram friend Loni, is from North Dakota and she had requested that I give her a run down on how we make...

I was going to post a segment on our little maple syrup operation but that program has been interrupted by the arrival of this little cutie and I just felt the need to brag about our new addition to the family!!

Saturday morning, Isabel and her friend Lily were playing in the back yard when I happened to mention something about a little surprise that we had up our sleeve...I didn't realize that the girls could mov...
