Fresh Fruit Slushies

I remember when my brother and I were young, we used to scour the ditches on our country roads, looking for beer bottles that we could turn in for cold hard cash! Brad was always the smart one, saving up to buy dirt bikes and skateboards but I would blow through my stash on things like Astro pops, gum and Slush Puppies! Back then, I thought those syrupy drinks were great, but now, nothing beats a homemade fresh fruit slushie!

Icy, cold and full of fruit, these slush drinks are healthy, refreshing and a cinch to make

To make this summery treat, you will need : fresh or frozen strawberries, pineapple, honey, orange juice and ice.

In a blender that is capable of crushing ice, add 2 cups of fresh or frozen strawberries (if strawberries are frozen, allow to thaw for a bit).

Next, toss in 1 cup of fresh pineapple...

...2 tbsps. of liquid honey,

...a 1/4 cup of orange juice,

...and 2 (heaping) cups of ice.

Blend on "ice crush" or high, stirring occasionally...

...until smooth.

Serve immediately with a straw and a spoon as the mixture will be quite thick!

Mmm-mmm!

Fresh Fruit Slushies

2 cups of fresh or frozen strawberries (I used frozen, cause that's what I had)

1 cup of fresh pineapple (cut into chunks)

2 tbsps. of liquid honey

1/4 cup of orange juice

2 heaping cups of ice

1. Toss everything into a blender (that can crush ice) and blend until smooth.

2. Stir occasionally to break up chunks...if your berries are frozen like mine, let them thaw a bit before processing.

3. Pour into glasses, garnish with fruit (if you want to show off!) and serve .
